The Best of Northern Ireland – Giant’s Causeway and Belfast

After a bucket list kind of day at the Cliffs of Moher and Galway, it was an early morning start for a trip to Northern Ireland. I had no idea what to expect from Northern Ireland; people LOVE Belfast, but I did not do any research.  Well, aside from chatting with my favorite bartender, Neil, at Elway’s in Denver International Airport.  He is from Belfast and gave me a couple of pointers.  However, before I get to Belfast, there is a must-see destination to visit first:  Giant’s Causeway. Northern Ireland and Giant’s Causeway For those that haven’t heard of it, The Giant’s Causeway is a dramatic natural wonder that is…

Our 2021 Best of Travel Awards

While 2021 was not the travel year that we had hoped, we had a great year and saw some amazing things. Even though we each had some fantastic trips separately, we tried to focus these awards on trips that we took together. Cheers to the new adventures that 2022 will bring. Best Moments Most Sisbehaving Moment Little Sister – Our Savannah (post here) photo shoot.  As a surprise for Peggy I booked us a sisbehaving photo shoot complete with mimosas and dress ups.  Or glow ups…  haha.  But I ended up looking like Slash from GnR so I guess that really didn’t turn out. Big Sister – Patti breaking her…

A Whirlwind Visit to the Cliffs of Moher and Galway

Is this a traditional or ideal travel post? No.  Would I recommend this specific route?  No.  Would I say we spent enough time in any particular location?  No.  Do I feel like we packed as much into the short amount of time we had?  Absolutely, yes! It was an incredible, whirlwind trip that tested the limits of my planning skills.  In a nutshell, it was a loop from Dublin to the Cliffs of Moher to Galway to Belfast and back to Dublin. This first post covers the Cliffs of Moher and Galway leg. First Stop – Sean’s Bar I arrived in Dublin early in the morning; rested and ready to…

Savannah – Day Drinking, Accidental Drunks, and Killer Eats

We’ve covered some of the amazing things to do in Savannah here, now we are all about the food & drink! Savannah Basics If you are a day drinker or a fan of fantastic food, I’m going to give Savannah, Georgia a 4.5 out of 5 stars.  For the most part, tourists are going to stick to the historic district of Savannah, so from here on out when I say Savannah just assume that I am talking Historic District. Here are our recommendations for you to find a little of everything to fit your mood. Upscale classy bars, dive bars, walk-up bar, basement bar, speakeasys. Generally, if we have a…

Our 2020 Best of Travel Awards

Moments Most “Sisbehaving” Moment Little Sister – Skinny dipping in a roof top infinity pool during an impending hurricaine.  It’s the funniest, not brightest, but it was damn fun. Read about our trip to Playa del Carmen Big Sister – This was during the first lockdown. Patti had recovered from COVID and was at my house with her husband, as well as our mother. Sometimes you just have to sneak away for a minute… Favorite Giggle Little Sister – Late night Korean BBQ in Minneapolis.  Or, the events leading up to it from the Capital Grille (second runner up for best cocktail: The Stoli Doli) and The Saloon . .…

Epic 5-day Utah and Northern Arizona Road Trip

Even though we sometimes refer to it as the Epic Utah Road Trip, we actually spent a couple of days in Page, Arizona and experienced some truly incredible sights. So shout out to Arizona, I don’t mean to minimize your contributions! Utah was not a sister trip, although I always wish she was with me. This is a Peggy-trip with my travel-buddy Kelli. She and I have been all over Colorado and Kentucky and she is the perfect travel partner (#adventuresofkelandpeg). Same pace, same music, mandatory car snacks, pull over at every single scenic overlook, and never any judgement about morning mimosas or lack of hair washing. Kelli is from…

I Did 50 New Things Before My 50th Birthday

A 50th Birthday deserves more than a trip or a party. Why not celebrate by accomplishing 50 new things in 50 weeks? This crazy idea started out on my 49th birthday…we were on our self-created pub tour in London, the last night of what had been an incredible family trip across the pond to see our beloved Seahawks play the Raiders in the NFL UK series. If this is how I celebrated 49, how would I improve on it for my 50th birthday?? 50 is a big deal and I felt like I had to pay it proper homage. I needed something equally momentous! After some brainstorming and online inspiration,…

    3 Incredible Days in Edinburgh

While planning a family trip to London for the American Football NFL UK series (Go Seahawks!), I decided that it would be irresponsible not to bop over to Edinburgh for a few days before the rest of the family arrived. Scotland has always been on our list and our great-grandmother was born there so it was even more special. Getting There Mombehaving and I flew into Heathrow and took the train from London to Edinburgh. London’s public transportation system made this an easy maneuver – we took the Tube from Heathrow to King’s Cross and left from there. I bought the train tickets on Rail Europe ahead of time and…

Travel Planning – Where Dreaming & Scheming Come Together

Travel Planning – Choosing our trips We used to totally fly by the seat of our pants when travel planning but for the last year, we have been getting serious. Devouring every travel list article, you know the ones, “50 Places That Should Be on Your Bucket List”, “The 25 Most Beautiful Places in the USA”.  We have created a comprehensive list of just over 200 incredible destinations that we are working through.  We committed to locking in 2 international and 2 domestic trips per year.  Then agreed to pick up other trips as opportunities present themselves. The dreaming and wishing and the “ooh, let’s go there” are part of…

Iceland Stopover – Day Trip to Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

Iceland Stopover Day 2 – Exploring the southern coast of Iceland The drive along South Iceland has some big hitters as far as what you come to see on an Iceland Stopover. Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach, Geysir, and the black sand beaches and lots of waterfalls. A day of driving After an incredible Iceland Stopover Day 1, we begrudgingly left our wonderful Airbnb house early. So early that even the coffee shop wasn’t open. We anticipated a full day of driving with plans to get as far as Vik, hike some waterfalls along the way, see Geysir and then return to spend our last night in Reykjavik. The weather…
